The log chisel is handcrafted from 6 mm tool steel. The cutting edge measures approximately 55 mm in width (straight measurement). The steel tang runs continuously through the wooden handle and is fitted with a welded steel strike cap at the top. Steel ferrules at both the base and top of the handle prevent splitting. Do not strike the chisel with a steel hammer – use a wooden or nylon mallet instead.

The oak handle is 200 mm long and approximately 40 mm in diameter. Overall length is approximately 400 mm. The handle surface has been charred and finished with domestic tar wax.
